CoffeeB launches the world’s first capsule coffee system without capsules
It is the most important coffee innovation since the invention of the coffee capsule and it promises to revolutionize the market: Delica, a subsidiary of the largest Swiss retailer Migros, launches CoffeeB, the world’s first coffee capsule system that works completely without a capsule. It is made possible by a small, fully compostable ball of pressed coffee. CoffeeB has all the conveniences of conventional capsule systems and guarantees the best coffee enjoyment – but produces no waste. The innovation is now available in Switzerland and France, with other markets planned to follow soon.
With CoffeeB, Delica is giving the starting signal for the next major revolution in the coffee market, 36 years after the launch of the coffee capsule. It introduces the first capsule system that requires no capsule at all. This is made possible by the “Coffee Ball”: a small ball of pressed coffee that is only covered by a protective layer patented worldwide by Delica. This not only gives the Coffee Ball stability – it also forms an ideal oxygen barrier that protects against loss of flavor, just like aluminum. Just like the coffee itself, the protective layer is also of natural origin and therefore fully compostable in the garden. Within a few weeks the Coffee Ball decomposes into valuable humus. The system is completed by the CoffeeB Globe coffee machine with patented brewing technology. Coffee B offers an individual selection of varieties and different strengths.
